Sheffield Wednesday welcomes French midfielder Momo Diaby as ninth summer signing
Sheffield Wednesday have secured the services of French midfielder Momo Diaby.
The player has been loaned from the Portuguese Primeira side, Portimonense SC, for the entirety of the upcoming season.
Having spent his professional years in Portugal, Diaby has adorned the colors of Pacos Ferreira for four seasons before making his move to Portimonense SC in the summer of 2022.
The 26-year-old's transition to the English side will be made smoother as he reunites with Jaun Delgado, a recent Owls recruit with whom Diaby shared the field during their stint at Pacos Ferreira.
Speaking to swfc.co.uk, an enthusiastic Diaby said, “I know Juan, I have played with him before. Before I came I spoke with him and he told me great things about the club.”
He expressed his excitement about finally getting the chance to play in England, mentioning it was always a dream. Diaby went on to add, “I am very happy and I hope we have a good season. I am here to help the team.”
Highlighting his eagerness to be part of the renowned Sheffield Wednesday's fanbase, Diaby said, “I can’t wait, I have heard a lot of good things about the fans and I want to tell them that me and the rest of the team will do our best to make them happy.”
Diaby has made over 121 competitive appearances for clubs in Portugal and has scored six goals in that time.
