Burnley has bolstered their midfield ranks with the acquisition of Norwegian international Sander Berge from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee.

The central midfielder has committed to a four-year deal with the Clarets, becoming the eighth addition under Vincent Kompany this summer

Commenting on his move, Berge shared his optimism about the club's direction. "I have heard a lot of good things about the club and seeing the success from outside last season, there’s a great project building here."

"It’s a great environment full of young talented players from all around the world, so I just think it’s the perfect fit for me. The club has high ambitions, making several signings and it all just fits into what I’m looking for,” he said.

Berge's journey began in Baerum, Norway. He played for Asker SK, moving through the ranks in the third and second tiers. His performances caught the attention of top-flight club Valerenga in 2015.

The midfielder's growth continued in Oslo for two seasons before he ventured to Belgium's Pro League with Genk in 2017.

Over three years, Berge marked his presence with 113 appearances and helped Genk lift the Belgian Super Cup in 2019.

This achievement paved his path to Sheffield United in January 2020, where he accumulated 109 appearances and 15 goals in the heart of the Blades' midfield.

On the international stage, Berge has represented Norway at various age groups. He made his senior debut in 2017 and has since earned 36 caps.

In a separate update, Burnley also confirmed that Manuel Benson, a key player in their Championship title-winning campaign last season, has renewed his commitment to the club.

The Belgian youth international, who joined in the summer of 2022, has penned a new four-year deal.

Benson had an impressive debut season, making 37 appearances and scoring 13 goals.
