GALWAY UNITED

League leaders Galway United will put their unbeaten home record on the line on Bank Holiday Monday when they welcome Treaty United to Eamonn Deacy Park.

The Tribesmen are coasting to the Premier Division and sit 16 points clear of closest challengers Waterford in second place.

But they were held to a 2-2 draw away to Finn Harps on Friday night after playing much of the game with 10-men.

Vincent Borden was dismissed during the first half and will now miss the game against Treaty on Corribside.

Yet, Galway will be confident that they can make do without the midfielder as they seek another big win in their bid to return to the top-flight.

TREATY UNITED

Play-off chasing Treaty United have it all to do if they are to reach the top-five come the end of the First Division season.

Tommy Barrett’s side looked set to close the gap on fifth-placed Wexford on Friday night when they hosted Longford Town at the Market’s Field.

With just over three minutes of normal time remaining the Shannonsiders were 2-1 ahead against 10-man Longford – but they were undone in remarkable fashion.

Longford levelled thanks to a stunning Cristian Magerusan free-kick – and in the fifth minute of injury time he struck again to secure a scarcely believable three points for De Town.

That left Treaty sitting in ninth place in the second-tier, although they do have a game in hand on Wexford and sit just five points behind them.

However, their game in hand will be against Waterford.

Referee: Mark Houlihan.
