WEXFORD

James Keddy’s Wexford will be looking to claim another scalp against local rivals Waterford when the pair meet at Ferrycarrig Park on Monday evening (kick-off is at 6pm).

The Slaneysiders condemned the Blues to their first defeat under boss Keith Long earlier this season after an impressive start to life at the RSC for the former Bohemians manager.

But Wexford have been patchy at times this season although they now sit inside the play-off places following a good run of form in recent weeks.

On Friday night they were held to a 2-2 draw away to Cobh Ramblers but they will be keen to stress the positives from their point having raced into a 2-0 lead at St Colman’s Park.

However, they will be without recent recruit Thomas Oluwa for their home clash against Waterford as he cannot face his parent club due to the arrangements of his loan.

Aaron Robinson remains out.

WATERFORD

Keith Long’s Waterford are 16 points Galway United in the race for the First Division title and it looks like their race might be run in that sense.

The Tribesmen have dropped just nine points this season and have conceded only 11 goals during their 25 games so far.

But the Blues are unlikely to give up the fight until it is mathematically beyond them and that starts with a derby away to Wexford on Monday.

Waterford defeated Kerry on Friday evening at the RSC and Long is hoping his side can push on from that win.

“Friday was a good win and a clean sheet,” he said. “We know we still have lots to do and lots to keep working on with so many new players coming in during the window.

“We created plenty of good chances and were unlucky not to win by more after hitting the woodwork, some goal line clearances and good saves.

“We’re looking forward to Wexford on Monday now and that’s the focus.

“It’s going to be a tough challenge with the quick turnaround but we’ve done our recovery and prepared well over the weekend, so we’ll be ready to go.”

Dean McMenamy, Shane Griffin and Darragh Power all continue to miss out through injury.

Harry Nevin is being assessed following injury in Friday’s match.
