Japanese international Kyosuke Tagawa completes move to Hearts
Heart of Midlothian has announced the signing of Japanese international forward, Kyosuke Tagawa, from FC Tokyo.
The 24-year-old player will be joining the Scottish side on a three-year deal, for an undisclosed six-figure fee, pending international clearance.
Tagawa brings with him an array of international experience, having represented Japan at every level from U17s to the full national team. He also has extensive J-League experience and has played a season in Portugal's top flight.
He began his J-League career with Sagan Tosu in 2017, where he scored eight goals in 59 appearances.
In 2019, Tagawa moved to FC Tokyo, where he managed 10 goals in 79 appearances. He also had a successful season on loan with Portuguese club CD Santa Clara, netting seven goals in 42 appearances.
On the international front, Tagawa has represented Japan in the 2017 U20s World Cup in South Korea. Since then, he has earned multiple caps for Japan's U21s and U23s before receiving a call-up to the senior national team, where he scored once in two appearances.
At Hearts, Tagawa will join fellow Japanese player Yutaro Oda.
Head Coach Frankie McAvoy expressed his delight at Tagawa's signing, stating, “He’s scored goals in Japan and Portugal, and for the national team, and we believe he can come in and do the same for Hearts."
