Rangers secure signing of LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes on four-year deal
Galsgow Rangers have announced the signing of Ecuadorian international, Jose Cifuentes, from Los Angeles FC.
The midfielder has signed a four-year contract, pending international clearance.
The 24-year-old Cifuentes becomes the ninth signing of the transfer window for the Rangers.
Joining LAFC in 2020, Cifuentes quickly made his mark, contributing to the team's double win of the MLS Cup and the Supporters’ Shield in 2022.
Having launched his career in his homeland Ecuador, Cifuentes played for clubs including Universidad Catolica and America De Quito before making the move to the MLS.
He has also been a regular presence on the international stage, earning 16 caps for Ecuador and featuring in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
On joining Rangers, Cifuentes said: “I'm very excited to be here, I think this club is amazing. When I spoke to Michael Beale, he told me about the project, what he wants here for the club, and he told me what he wants from me here so that’s why I joined. I love his project and his vision for football.”
Manager Beale expressed his delight, stating: “Jose is a player we have followed for a long time. I was originally aware of him when he broke through in Ecuador and I have followed him on his journey with LAFC in the MLS."
