Sheffield United sign US International Auston Trusty from Arsenal
Sheffield United has announced the signing of United States international defender Auston Trusty.
The 24-year-old has inked a four-year deal after the Blades agreed to an undisclosed fee with Arsenal.
Speaking about the move, Trusty expressed his excitement, saying, "The opportunity to be here at this historic club, and an opportunity to play in the Premier League and show my ability, it is everything I could have ever dreamed of growing up as a kid."
Trusty highlighted the fast-paced nature of his transfer, noting that he was on a US tour with Arsenal just a few days ago.
"I have just come back from a US tour with Arsenal and a couple of days later I am sitting here doing this interview. Things did happen very quick, but that's how football works," said Trusty.
Blades chief Paul Heckingbottom said, "I'm delighted we've managed to get this one over the line, it is one of the positions we've been looking to fill and it is with one our own, a permanent transfer rather than a loan."
Trusty began his professional journey in his native Pennsylvania, starting in local clubs before joining the Philadelphia Union's youth setup.
He signed an amateur contract with Union's reserve team, Bethlehem Steel, in 2016. After playing 44 games over two seasons, he made his senior debut for Philadelphia in March 2018.
In November 2019, Trusty moved to Colorado Rapids, spending two years there before transferring to Arsenal in January 2022.
He was loaned to Birmingham City for the 2022/23 season, where he made 48 appearances in all competitions and won the club's Player of the Year award.
Trusty is the Blades' fourth signing of the summer, following the acquisitions of Anis Slimane, Yasser Larouci, and Bénie Traoré.
