Cheltenham Town secures loan deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Oli Hammond
Cheltenham Town has confirmed the acquisition of midfielder Oli Hammond from Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan.
The 20-year-old talent had only just renewed his contract with Nottingham Forest last week before making the move to join Wade Elliott's squad.
Hammond has been with Nottingham Forest since he was eight, rising through the ranks of the club's academy.
He brings with him a promising record from Forest's U21 side in Premier League 2 Division 2 last term, where he scored six goals and provided five assists.
In addition, Hammond has had brief first-team experiences with the Reds, making appearances in the Carabao Cup against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Grimsby Town, and Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Cheltenham's latest signing already trained with his new teammates and will be ready for action in the League One opener against Shrewsbury Town this weekend.
Speaking about his move, Hammond said, "It feels great. It's been a long time coming, but now I just can't wait to get started and get going."
He added, "A move like this is vital for my progression and it's something I have been wanting to do for a while now. I think this is the perfect place to do it for me."
Excited about the prospect of playing in front of the Robins' fans, Hammond said, "I can't wait to show everyone what I can do and what the team have been working on. It's been a good pre-season and I can't wait to get going and see everyone."
