Daryl Horgan makes his League of Ireland return signing for Dundalk
Daryl Horgan has rejoined Dundalk FC following the expiration of his contract with Wycombe Wanderers.
The 30-year-old winger, who initially left the club for the UK in 2016, has returned to the Lilywhites on a free transfer, subject to international clearance.
Horgan has left an indelible mark during his three-season tenure at Oriel Park from 2014 to 2016. With 138 appearances and 30 goals to his credit, he was part of a Dundalk team who won three successive SSE Airtricity League titles, along with victories in the FAI Cup and the EA Sports Cup.
Horgan was a key player in the Dundalk side that triumphed and qualified for the UEFA Europa League group stages in 2016.
Born in Galway, Horgan began his football journey with Salthill Devon, eventually starting his professional career with Sligo Rovers.
A successful loan to Cork City in 2011 paved the way for a permanent move, where he netted 21 goals in 79 appearances. His stellar performance caught the eye of Dundalk, which he joined in 2013.
Post his successful stint with Dundalk, Horgan moved to Preston North End in the UK in January 2017.
Following a transfer to Hibernian and a run with Wycombe Wanderers, Horgan was loaned to Stevenage in January 2023, aiding their climb to EFL League One.
Apart from his club exploits, Horgan has also represented Ireland at various levels, earning 17 caps for the senior team between 2017 and 2021.
After leaving Wycombe in May 2023, Horgan continued training with his former club in advance of his return to Dundalk.
