Early signs of progress please Hatswell
Dundalk have stretched their unbeaten start to the new Airtricity League campaign to four games and Wayne Hatswell thinks the team are starting to click.
Hatswell, who doubles up as left-back and assistant manager, reckons there is still more to come from The Lilywhites, but does feel that they have already shown what they are capable of.
After drawing at home to St Patrick's Athletic in their last outing, the County Louth side moved onto eight points and displayed glimpses of transforming into a decent team.
"I think were looking like a team that are hard to break down now and we've certainly got the players to try and win us the match," Hatswell told Extratime.
"We'll always get chances with delivery from JJ Melligan and Ross Gaynor, and with a live wire like Faz Kudozovic and Neale Fenn up front as well."
Hatswell is a new arrival to the domestic game, but it has been clear in his four league games so far that he is someone that opposition defenders will have to keep a close watch on at set-pieces.
The 35-year-old has revealed that he is itching to score that first goal in Dundalk colours and will keep roaming forward until he gets it.
"I need one to go in probably off my shoulder at the moment or take a deflection. It's not for the lack of effort, probably I'm trying to hard," he admitted.
"I do get my fair share of goals and I like to think I'm half decent in the air.
"Obviously it means a lot to me to get off the mark. I'm just going to have to look at the next game."
