Norway reach last 16 of the World Cup with a 6 - 0 win over the Philippines

Norway have qualified for the last 16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup after an emphatic 6-0 win over the Philippines on Sunday.
The result sees the Philippines eliminated with New Zealand also narrowly crashing out after they were held to a scoreless draw against Switzerland.
Sophie Roman Haug scored the first of her three goals in the sixth minute when she volleyed a Thea Bjelde cross into the back of the net.
She scored again ten minutes later in a similar fashion with Vilde Boa Rise providing the cross on that occasion.
Caroline Hansen fired home from 25 yards with just over a half an hour gone to give the Norwegians a commanding lead into half time.
Alicia Barker had the misfortune of putting the ball in her own net to make it 4-0 with Guido Reiten scoring a fifth when she struck from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute.
The Philippines were reduced to ten players when substitute Sofia Harrison was sent off just ten minutes after her introduction but they held out from conceding further until deep in injury time when Haug nodded home her third goal to complete her hat-trick.
Norway coach Hege Risse was pleased to progress to the next round after a disappointing start to their campaign, speaking after the match she said, “We felt it was us against the world today and we performed from the very start, delivering when we really had to. This was the best response we could have given the Norwegian people and ourselves.”
