Shelbourne cross the city to the Tallaght Stadium on Monday night for Round Three of the Leinster Senior Cup against Shamrock Rovers (kick-off 8pm).

Shelbourne booked their place to play the Hoops after defeating Tolka Rovers thanks to goals from David McGill and Darren Forsyth. Shamrock Rovers dispatched Wexford Youths by two goals to one in the previous round.

The week-end just gone saw Shelbourne score five in a high scoring 3-5 game away to Longford Town while Rovers came away from Terryland with the three points after a 0-1 win over Galway United.

Shamrock Rovers will welcome back James Chambers and Danny Murphy after they missed the Galway game through suspension. Gary Twigg and Dessie Baker are still injured , whilst Pat Sullivan was stretchered off against Galway after straining to clear and picking up what looked like a hamstring tear. Chris Turner could be in line to make his debut for the Hoops.

On the injured list for Shelbourne are Gareth Whelan who will see the specialist again on Monday, having picked up a fractured jaw last Tuesday in Gortakeegan. Sean Byrne is still suffering with a thigh injury and Ray Scully picked up a thigh injury in Longford.

Colin O’Brien returns from suspension and the new duo of Michael Coburn and Mark Leech are likely to start again, both having made successful debuts on Saturday night. Andy Haran, who has returned to training, is a possible for tonight, as are Marwan Izimi and Alberto Pinto, who have been drafted into the squad from the ‘A’ division team.

Shamrock Rovers have reduced ticket prices for this game so children under 14 years pay only €5, all others will be charged €10.

Extratime.ie Prediction: It is unclear what kind of sides both teams will field and therefore hard to predict a result, so I am going with a 2-1 Shels win on what looks to be poor weather for football.
