In a busy day of activity, football clubs across the English Premier League, Scottish Premiership, English Football League, and internationally made a number of transfers on 28th July 2023 (links will bring you to an article on the transfers).
In the Premier League, Fulham strengthened their ranks by recruiting Ajax's Calvin Bassey, while Luton Town bolstered their defense by bringing in Ryan Giles from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
North of the border, the Scottish Premiership saw Rangers snag a significant deal with Feyenoord's Danilo Pereira Da Silva, signing him on for a five-year term.
English Football League clubs took advantage of loan deals, Stockport County securing the services of Aston Villa's Louie Barry, Coventry City bringing in Luis Binks from Bologna, and Freddie Potts making a loan switch to Wycombe Wanderers from West Ham United.
Sunderland snapped up 18-year-old striker Eliezer Mayenda from French club Sochaux. Meanwhile, defender Adam Lewis returned to Newport County from Liverpool for a second loan spell.
Stoke City pulled off a coup by signing Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes from Aston Villa. In other moves, Jonny Maxted joined Newport County on a free transfer from Northampton, and midfielder Liam Kinsella signed for Swindon.
Internationally, Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez made a headline move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli in a deal reported to be worth £30m. West Ham United also made a splash by signing Jessie Stapleton from Shelbourne.
