Crawley Town acquires midfielder Ronan Darcy from Swindon Town
Crawley Town has officially announced the signing of midfielder Ronan Darcy from Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee. Darcy, who hails from Ormskirk, joins the club on a two-year contract.
Darcy is a product of the Bolton Wanderers’ academy, which he joined at the tender age of nine.
His first-team debut came in May 2019 against Nottingham Forest.
He continued to impress at Bolton, earning an extension on his scholarship contract that allowed him to make 22 appearances during the 2019/20 season. This tenure also saw him score his first professional goal.
The midfielder's career later took him to Sogndal in Norway and Queen’s Park in Scottish League One for loan spells.
In the summer of 2022, after a successful trial period, Darcy decided to terminate his contract with Bolton in favour of a move to Scott Lindsey’s Swindon Town.
Crawley Town's Manager, Scott Lindsey, expressed his delight at Darcy's signing: "Ronan is a great signing for this football club. He is somebody that I have worked with before, so I know that he is an exciting player with bags of energy. He works extremely hard and is a good technical player who will hopefully add some goals to the team."
