Stoke City acquires Moroccan International striker Ryan Mmaee from Ferencvaros
Stoke City has confirmed the signing of Moroccan international striker Ryan Mmaee from Hungarian champions Ferencvaros for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old forward, who has averaged a goal every 148 minutes in club football since 2020, has signed a three-year contract and joins Stoke City subject to international clearance.
Mmaee arrives at Stoke after three successful seasons in Europe, which saw him leading Ferencvaros to consecutive league titles.
Prior to his stint in Hungary, Mmaee starred in Cyprus, firing AEL Limassol to a third-place top-flight finish with 17 goals.
“Having tracked Ryan for a period of time, we know that he has been on the radar of several clubs in England and across Europe," said Ricky Martin, Technical Director at Stoke City.
“He played regularly in the Europa League last season too, so he brings pedigree, experience and ability to our forward line."
Martin praised Mmaee's goal-scoring and opportunity-creating record in recent seasons and expressed his eagerness to utilize the Moroccan international's skills in Stoke City's attacking strategy.
Mmaee began his professional career in Belgium, making his debut for Standard Liege at age 17.
He also featured for Belgium at the Under-19 and Under-21 levels before choosing to represent Morocco, where he has since earned 12 senior international caps.
Reflecting on his move to Stoke City, Mmaee said, “I think the project is very good here, the club have really shown me that they wanted to sign me and this is a challenge I am very excited for.”
He added that he wants to be part of the build-up, create chances for himself and his teammates, and believes he can continue to develop his game at Stoke City.
He also expressed his enthusiasm about playing in England, saying, “I have experience in a few different countries and have always wanted to play in England. I believe this will help me to play with confidence, to continue to improve my game and help the team straight away.”
