Stockport County has confirmed the signing of the young forward, Louie Barry, on a season-long loan from Premier League's Aston Villa.

The 20-year-old England U18s international penned a fresh contract with Aston Villa before transitioning to Edgeley Park.

The young player first drew attention when he joined Barcelona's acclaimed La Masia academy, becoming the first-ever English player to do so.

Born and raised in the West Midlands, Barry spent a decade in West Brom's academy before making the leap to Barcelona, where he clinched the Spanish U19s league.

Despite his success in Spain, he returned to his home turf by accepting an offer from his childhood team, Aston Villa, in 2020.

During a COVID-19 outbreak in Aston Villa's squad, Barry got the opportunity to showcase his talent by starting an FA Cup tie against Liverpool.

After successful loan stints with Ipswich Town, Swindon Town, MK Dons, and Salford City, Barry will now don the County colors, becoming their second signing this week following Jayden Richardson's loan from Aberdeen.

In an interview with www.stockportcounty.com, Simon Wilson, Director of Football, expressed delight at securing Barry for the upcoming season.

He stated, "He is an outstanding one-on-one player who can scare the life out of defenders. We want to be a team that has different types of tools to win games; this was something we felt we needed, and we believe Louie is one of the best around.”

First-Team Manager, Dave Challinor also weighed in, mentioning Barry as their top target for his position in his chat with www.stockportcounty.com.

Challinor added, "Louie is a dribbler, an exciting, pacey forward who has the ability to beat players and will certainly get people off their seats. We are really looking forward to working with him and anticipate him having a real impact within the squad.”
