Irish match official Michelle O’Neill will run line this weekend in Wellington for Sweden and Italy
Having been part of the officiating panel for Monday’s 4-0 win for Brazil against Panama in Adelaide, Irish assistant referee Michelle O’Neill is back running the line again at the World Cup on Saturday.
She will work with Welsh referee Cheryl Foster this weekend for the Sweden v Italy game.
The duo have been working together on games over the last year including this season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League Final between Barcelona and Wolfsburg in the PSV Stadium and Women’s Super League games including Spurs against Brighton in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the Everton and Arsenal game.

O’Neill has been an assistant referee previously at two Women’s World Cups, the Tokyo Olympics and ran the line in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.
She was also part of an all-women’s refereeing team, led by France’s Stephanie Frappart, who took charge of the 2019 UEFA Super Cup when Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side defeated Chelsea on penalties in Istanbul.
