Bohemians have announced the loan signing of 19-year-old centre-back Louie Holzman from Reading.

The deal will keep Holzman with the Dublin-based football club until the end of the season.

Holzman has been included in the matchday squad for Friday's Premier Division game against UCD.

Manager Declan Devine expressed his pleasure at securing Holzman's services.

He shared, “We are delighted to bring Louie in. He is someone we wanted to bring to the club in January so I am really pleased to get him in now."

The Bohemians' squad recently saw the departure of three defenders – Grant Horton, Jay Benn, and Drew Baker – at the end of their respective loan terms. Therefore, strengthening the defence was a top priority for the team.

"We don’t just want cover, we want competition for places and I believe we will have that with Louie," said Devine.

Holzman emerged from Reading's academy and had been training with their first-team squad. He has already experienced first-team football with them in the FA Cup last year.

Devine welcomed Holzman, saying, "He is a really welcome addition to the squad, he has looked good in training, and we are really looking forward to working with him and getting him up to speed.”
