After 12 memorable years, 492 games, and 33 goals for Liverpool, Jordan Henderson, the Reds' long-standing captain, is moving on.

An emotional Henderson confirmed his departure from the club via a heartfelt message on Instagram.

Now, he's set to embark on a new journey, joining back up with former teammate and current manager of Al-Ettifaq Steven Gerrard.

Henderson's heartfelt message captured the overwhelming emotions of parting ways with a club that has been an integral part of his life for more than a decade.

His poignant words read, "It’s hard to put these last 12 years into words and it’s even harder to say goodbye. I will always be a Red. Until the day I die. Thank you for everything. You’ll never walk alone.”

Reflecting on the weight of the moment, Henderson wrote, "I'm not sure I have any words to sum up how I'm feeling right now - I'm in the dressing room for the last time so as you can imagine it's very emotional."

He delved into the start of his Liverpool journey, reminiscing, "I can still remember that June night back in 2011 clearly, being dead excited but then becoming even more nervous as the move from Sunderland became a reality... Driving in through those old Melwood gates, meeting Damien [Comolli], spinning feeling in my stomach, a little shy meeting Sir Kenny [Dalglish], that all feels like yesterday."

Despite acknowledging the hardships he faced, Henderson vowed that the memories of good times will prevail.

"I can't lie, there has been hard times. Really hard times. But, when I look back on my career with Liverpool, it will always be the good times that I remember."

Recounting one of the most significant moments of his career, he stated, "Starting in Madrid with number six, the most perfect night. Probably my favourite night, actually... Then bringing number 19 home, we knew as players what ending that wait meant to you."

With an emotional note, Henderson thanked the fans for their unwavering support, "Just know I will always be a Red until the day I die. Thank you for everything, You'll Never Walk Alone. Jordan."

In addition to Henderson, Al-Ettifaq have also comfirmed the signings of Moussa Dembélé and Jack Hendry.
