Charlton Athletic secures midfielder Terry Taylor from Burton Albion
Charlton Athletic has officially announced the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Terry Taylor from Burton Albion.
Taylor has committed to a three-year contract with the Addicks.
He becomes the club's sixth summer acquisition, with Harry Isted, Lloyd Jones, Alfie May, Panutche Camará, and Tayo Edun already enlisted.
The Scotland-born player has a notable career trajectory. He represented Scotland at the U17 and U18 levels, captained the U21 Wales squad.
Following the official announcement, Taylor expressed his excitement to join the Charlton ranks.
He said, “It feels amazing... The ambition, Dean Holden's plan, and the general direction of the club are very appealing."
Charlton's Manager, Dean Holden, praised Taylor's abilities, highlighting his passing, set-piece taking skills, and off-the-ball capabilities.
“Terry is a fantastic young talent... He’s got a good eye for a pass and is an excellent set-piece taker... I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Reinforcing Charlton's strategic approach to recruitment, Technical Director Andy Scott stated, “The signing of Terry is another example of the club’s recruitment strategy... He is a player we identified with real potential and excellent character... He has the potential to develop into a Championship player.”
Before joining Burton Albion in 2021, Taylor's career journey included a stint with Aberdeen and Wolverhampton Wanderers, a debut match against Aston Villa in 2019, and a loan term with Grimsby Town. At Burton, he played in 65 games.
