Charlton Athletic secures Blackburn's Tayo Edun on a two-year deal
Charlton Athletic has announced the addition of left-back Tayo Edun to their squad.
The 25-year-old player, who is also comfortable in a midfield role, comes from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee.
Edun has penned a two-year contract, with an option for a third year, making him the fifth summer addition to the Addicks after Harry Isted, Lloyd Jones, Alfie May, and Panutche Camará.
Edun, who has represented England at U17, U18, U19, and U20 levels, is looking forward to contributing to the team's success.
“I’m here to compete, so I'm looking forward to getting in and meeting the boys as soon as possible," he said.
"They will help me find my feet and then obviously together we can all push on. It's really positive and I'm just looking forward to getting going."
Charlton Athletic's Manager, Holden, expressed his delight at securing Edun, whom they had been pursuing for quite some time.
Holden said, “He’s got real good quality on the ball in terms of his technical ability, he can get up and down the pitch and he can play in a couple of positions as well. Crucially, more than anything, he’s desperate to come here."
Edun, who began his youth career with Fulham, has had an impressive career trajectory.
He was part of the England U19 side that won the UEFA U19 European Championship in 2017 and was named in the official Team of the Tournament.
He later moved to Lincoln in January 2020 and was involved in their journey to the 2020/21 Sky Bet League One play-off final.
Edun joined Blackburn Rovers in the summer following the play-off final.
