Sheffield Wednesday secure loan signing of Watford striker

Sheffield Wednesday have announced the signing of Ashley Fletcher on a season long loan from Watford.

Fletcher joined the Hornets in 2021 after their promotion to the Premier League under current Owls manager Xisco Munez and the striker has had loan spells with the New York Red Bulls and Wigan Athletic during that period.

The striker began his career with Manchester United before moving to West Ham and then having his most prolific spell scoring 19 goals for Middlesborough between 2017 and 2021.

The 27 year old joins Wednesday after spending last season on loan at Wigan in the Championship where he scoored twice in 26 appearances.
