Stoke City sign Andre Vidigal from Maritimo
Stoke City have announced the signing of the 24-year-old Portuguese forward, Andre Vidigal.
He has signed a three-year deal with the club, moving from Maritimo for an undisclosed fee. Vidigal, who has a versatile skillset across the forward line, will wear the number seven shirt for Stoke City.
Speaking about the transfer, the Club's Technical Director, Ricky Martin, expressed his excitement.
“Andre is an exciting player who carries a constant attacking threat, and is therefore someone we feel will entertain our fans as well as helping us secure results on the field,” he said.
He emphasized the club's intent to increase depth and quality in the final third of the pitch, which they believe Andre will bring.
Vidigal, a former Portuguese youth international, has demonstrated his capability with 65 top flight appearances for Maritimo during the past two seasons.
Despite being part of a side that was relegated in 22/23, Vidigal made an impact with eight goals, which included a run of five goals in six games, beginning with a double in a 4-2 win over Boavista on April 2.
He has also tasted success, winning promotion twice during his career with Dutch outfit Fortuna Sittard in 2019 and while on-loan with Estoril in Portugal two years later.
He was part of the APOEL squad that won the Cypriot league title in 2020, featuring in 22 matches.
Reacting to his move to the Potteries, Vidigal said, “This is an exciting new challenge for me. I believe that Stoke City is a club with ambitions that match my own, which is to play at the highest level."
