Celtic lands K League's Young Player of the Year Hyunjun Yang
Celtic Football Club has confirmed the signing of the promising South Korean player, Hyunjun Yang, in a five-year deal pending international clearance.
The 21-year-old attacker, who last season clinched the title of the K League Young Player of the Year, moves from Gangwon FC to join his compatriot striker, Hyeongyu Oh, at Celtic Park.
Yang is the third addition to Brendan Rodgers' roster in this transfer window, following the recruitment of Marco Tilio and Odin Thiago Holm.
The club's manager expressed his satisfaction with this acquisition, stating to celticfc.com, "We’re delighted to bring Yang to the club and I’m sure he’s going to be another great addition to the squad."
Rodgers revealed that the club had been closely observing Yang, and they believe he will enrich their attack.
He praised Yang's performance, stating, "He’s an exciting player who was the Young Player of the Year in South Korea last season, which is an indication of his quality, and I’m sure he’ll be looking forward to having a big impact at the club."
Rodgers added that Yang's enthusiasm about the move to Celtic was evident and that the team is looking forward to working with him.
On his part, Yang expressed excitement about his move to Celtic, stating, "I’m very pleased to come to Celtic and I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to begin training with them."
Celtic will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in a pre-season friendly in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on the 29th July.
