Athlone Town confirm one exit and one arrival as Luka Lovic returns to Wexford

First Division play-off hopefuls Athlone Town have confirmed that attacker Adam Lennon has left the club.

Lennon played underage football for the Co Westmeath side before joining UCD ahead of the 2021 season.

He then returned to Athlone midway through the 2022 campaign having left the Students.

Since then he has played under a number of different managers, including his father Dermot who previously played for Athlone Town.

“We can also confirm that Adam Lennon has left the club and we thank him for all his hard work and effort while he was at the Club and we wish him all the best for the future,” a statement read.

However, the blow of Lennon’s departure was softened by the arrival of Dylan Gavin from Charlton Athletic.

Gavin, 20, was previously on the books of the Town underage side’s and was a teammate of Lennon for a time at the club before he moved over to the UK.

The attacker made just one senior appearance for Charlton during his stint at the Valley and was most recently on loan with Billericay Town in the English non-league.

Meanwhile, Wexford have also confirmed the return of midfielder Luka Lovic.

Lovic re-joins the Slaneysiders having followed former boss Ian Ryan to Bray Wanderers at the start of the season.

The former UCD under-19 made his second debut for Wexford in their 3-0 win over Avondale United in the FAI Cup on Friday night.
