Burnley acquire Man City keeper James Trafford on a four-year deal

Burnley has made its fourth acquisition of the summer transfer window with the signing of England U21 international James Trafford from Manchester City, for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper is set to stay at Turf Moor for the next four years.

Trafford comes with a wealth of experience in League One football, having spent the past two seasons with Accrington Stanley and Bolton Wanderers.

His time at Bolton saw him lift the Football League Trophy and receive the Young Player of the Season award.

Internationally, Trafford played a pivotal role in England's U21 UEFA European Championship win over the summer.

He racked up six clean sheets, including a remarkable stoppage-time penalty save in the final that helped clinify the victory for the Young Lions.

"I feel very happy to officially be a Burnley player," Trafford said upon signing.

"I want to improve and learn as much as I can here and as a team, I just want to take it a day at a time and try and achieve as much as we can going forward.”

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany expressed his excitement about the new addition to the squad.

"We’ve signed an extremely talented young man. More than just a talent, he’s a great character," Kompany said.

"James is a very impressive, confident, mature young man. Most people have seen what he’s achieved in his career so far and his level of talent. We’re looking forward to developing that even further. Making him even better. He’s done so much already, and what excites us is how far he can go."
