Preview: Galway United vs Bray Wanderers

Two teams who between them have netted only five league goals meet at Terryland Park on Friday night. Fortunately for The Seagulls, the three they have scored have all resulted in points gained, most notably being the 1-0 win over Derry City last weekend.

As a result, Bray sit seven points clear of the bottom side, and will arrive confident they can repeat last year's success at the Galway venue, when last week's hero Alan Cawley cracked in a free-kick which was enough to pilfer the spoils.

Jeff Kenna's appointment as Galway boss on Monday should coax a few hundred more through the turnstiles, but whether they will see their side resurrect their season is anyone's guess. Galway have shown flickers of class at various times, but have failed miserably in front of goal. Once again the squad is decimated by injuries and suspensions.

Alan Keane, Ciaran Foley, Daryl Robson, and John Russell are all definitely out. Wes Charles sits out the first of what probably will be a three game suspension, while Regi Nooitmeer and Alvin Rouse are both rated doubtful. On the plus side for Kenna, Stephen O'Flynn and Derek Glynn are both getting closer to full match fitness, and may lead the attack.

Bray will be eyeing another win to move away from the dreaded bottom three, but Eddie Gormley may be forced to plan without Kevin Doherty, John Mulroy and Mark Duggan who are rated doubtful. Andy Myler and Andrei Georgescu returned to training this week and may be in line for a start, while Gary McCabe and Ronan Ivory are also back in contention.

Early in the season it may be, but Galway United desperately need these three points, and with an opportunity to impress the new boss at hand, this may prove enough incentive for them to break their duck.
