Sean Boyd: 'There is no place like home and Tolka Park is mine'
Shelbourne have announced that striker Sean Boyd has signed a new contract that will keep him at Tolka Park until the end of the 2024 season.
The 25-year-old's signing follows that of Conor Kearns and Gavin Molloy.
Boyd started the 2023 League of Ireland Premier Division campaign against Drogheda United, only to be sidelined for four months following surgery for an abductor tear and a hernia.
The Swords native has netted three goals so far this season in a victory over UCD, a draw against Derry City, and a win over Drogheda United, all within his nine appearances this season.
This comes following a 2022 season where he made 29 appearances in the league, scoring 11 goals.
Head Coach Damien Duff praised Boyd saying, “Credit to Sean, he has worked his way back from a serious injury and impacted the team straight away. He has a brilliant presence and personality within the squad, on and off the pitch."
Duff jokingly added, "He said in the ‘1895 podcast’ recently that I don’t like him. He is right. I don’t like him, I love him. UTFR”
Expressing his excitement over the contract extension, Boyd said, “I’m over the moon to have extended my contract with this great club, I have loved every minute here and with the club going in all the right places Shels is a really exciting place to be."
Boyd expressed gratitude to the management, staff and fans, asserting that "There is no place like home and Tolka Park is mine.”
