Leeds United's Rasmus Kristensen loaned to AS Roma
Leeds United defender, Rasmus Kristensen, has been loaned to AS Roma for the 2023/24 season.
The 26-year-old full back, who represented his country Denmark at the senior level 14 times, is set to join fellow Leeds player Diego Llorente in making a loan move to the Stadio Olimpico.
Kristensen began his journey with the Whites in the 2022/23 season and played 30 times, scoring three goals during the campaign.
Kristensen expressed his enthusiasm about joining the esteemed Italian club.
“I'm proud to be part of this great club – you can feel the history as soon as you walk in here,” he said.
He was particularly drawn to Roma due to its recent success in European competitions, stating, “Roma's European success in recent years made me want to play for this club even more. I can't wait to have my everyday life here.”
Kristensen made his professional debut for Midtjylland, and then moved to Ajax for a season. In 2018, he joined Salzburg, spending three years in Austria, before signing for Leeds United last summer.
Tiago Pinto, AS Roma General Manager, Football, shared the club’s excitement about the new signing.
“Rasmus is a player we've been tracking for a long time, even before he joined Leeds, and now we finally have the chance to bring him to Rome,” said Pinto.
The manager believes that Kristensen’s considerable experience will augment the team's defensive options and strengthen the squad.
