Exeter City secure loan deal for Brentford player Ryan Trevitt
Exeter City has confirmed the acquisition of Ryan Trevitt, the promising 20-year-old midfielder from Premier League side Brentford, on a season-long loan.
This marks the fifth signing for the Grecians in this summer's transfer window.
Trevitt has been making a name for himself at Brentford, finishing the previous season with impressive stats: 16 goals and nine assists in 27 appearances for Brentford B.
His accomplishments didn't go unnoticed as he clinched the club’s Mary Halder Award, recognising his progression, attitude, and professionalism.
Originally scouted from non-league Leatherhead, Trevitt joined Brentford in late 2020 after a successful trial and quickly made his presence felt.
His first-team debut came in August 2022. Additionally, Trevitt enjoyed regular training stints with the first team throughout the last campaign, even joining the side for a mid-season trip to Spain during the World Cup.
Trevitt's contributions to Brentford B's victories have been crucial. A prime example includes scoring the decisive goal against Blackburn at the Gtech Community Stadium, propelling the Bees to win the Premier League Cup last season.
His tally also boasts goals against prominent European sides such as Jong PSV Eindhoven and Monaco under-21s.
Exeter City's manager, speaking to the club's website, couldn't hide his excitement over Trevitt's signing, stating: "Ryan is someone I've been looking at since January. He has a big future ahead of him. I spent a day last season at Brentford to watch him and speak to the staff to see how they do things, and I got to see him score and assist in the Premier League Cup."
The manager further praised the versatile midfielder, adding, "I was really excited that night and we have worked really hard to bring him here. He is an old school midfielder who can do everything. He can control in the deeper positions but can also arrive in the box to score and assist. His quality is one thing, but his versatility is brilliant as well."
