Arsenal has announced the signing of Netherlands international Jurrien Timber on a long-term contract.

The 22-year-old former Ajax defender is set to bring his experience to Arsenal, having made 121 senior appearances and won two league titles and a Dutch Cup with the Amsterdam side.

Timber joined the Ajax academy in 2014 alongside his twin brother Quinten, who currently represents Eredivisie side, Feyenoord.

The versatile player signed his first professional contract with Ajax in 2018, making his senior debut in a 3-1 victory over SC Heerenveen in March 2020.

In addition to his club career, Timber has represented the Netherlands at the UEFA Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He made his senior debut for the national team in June 2021 during a 2-2 friendly match against Scotland.

Speaking to www.arsenal.com, Sporting Director Edu said, “We are very happy to bring Jurrien to Arsenal. He is a player that we have admired for a long time, so it’s a credit to everyone in our team that made this happen."

Edu continued by praising the young talent, stating that his youth and potential were in line with the club's vision of building a strong, competitive squad.

Manager Mikel Arteta also expressed excitement about Timber's signing.
