Swansea City welcomes striker Jerry Yates from Blackpool
Swansea City has secured the signature of Jerry Yates, a 26-year-old striker, from Blackpool for an undisclosed fee.
The player has inked a three-year deal, lasting until the summer of 2026, with an option to extend it for a further year.
The Yorkshire-born Yates, who will don the number nine jersey for the Swans, becomes their third recruit of the summer window, after Josh Ginnelly and Josh Key.
Yates' footballing journey has seen him rise through the youth ranks at Doncaster Rovers and Rotherham United, with loan spells at Harrogate Railway Athletic, Harrogate Town, Carlisle United, and Swindon Town.
Yates made a name for himself in the 2019-20 season, when his 14 goals in 35 appearances earned him a spot on the PFA Team of the Year and helped Swindon clinch the League Two title.
He continued to impress at Blackpool, where his 23 goals propelled the team to Championship promotion via a play-off victory against Lincoln City.
Despite his 15 goals last season, Blackpool faced relegation to the third tier. Yates' prolific scoring record earned him the titles of PFA fans' player of the year and Blackpool's player of the season for the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons respectively.
Following the move, Yates shared his excitement and readiness to contribute to the Swans' mission.
"I am really excited to be here, I hope I can adapt very quickly because I am really looking forward to getting down to work,” he said.
Yates also touched upon his playing philosophy, underlining his dedication and commitment to the team's cause.
“I like to think I am an honest player, I am hard working, I will always give 110 per cent,” he added.
"For me, that is the minimum I expect of myself, even if I am not having the best of games or a tough run, I will never stop working hard for the team."
