Bristol City sign Jason Knight from Derby County
Bristol City has confirmed the signing of Jason Knight from Derby County. The 22-year-old midfielder from Dublin has inked a four-year contract at Ashton Gate.
Knight, who debuted in Derby County's first team at only 18, has accumulated an impressive 166 senior appearances.
Known for his energetic style and ability to unlock defenses, his consistent performance has led to him being an integral part of the Republic of Ireland's national team, where he has earned 20 caps and scored one goal so far.
Speaking on the transfer, Knight expressed his excitement and gratitude.
“It's been a long time coming behind-the-scenes trying to get it sorted, but I'm happy to be here and I'm looking for the season ahead,” he said.
The midfielder also noted the interest shown by Bristol City to secure his services, stating, “The club have shown a real eaginess to get me here, which is always nice as a footballer - to be wanted.”
Knight, who worked with Bristol City's current manager Nigel Pearson during Pearson's time at Derby County, acknowledged the importance of their previous relationship.
“I know Nigel from his time at Derby County and I've had a good number of chats with him, and he sees me as a big part of the plans going forward."
The young midfielder concluded by pledging his commitment to the club.
