Peterborough United's goalkeeper Will Blackmore commits to a new three-year contract

Peterborough United have announced that their goalkeeper, Will Blackmore, has signed a new three-year contract with the club.

The 21-year-old sealed the deal at the idverde Training Ground on Wednesday, securing his long-term future with the club.

Blackmore, who made five appearances for the team, including three consecutive league starts last term. His league appearances last term also featured his first senior clean sheet.

On signing the new contract, Blackmore expressed his delight, noting, "It's another significant moment in my young career so far. Last season's first team involvement, debut, and the opportunity to play a few games were great experiences. This season is about building on that."

Having been a part of the first team group for several years, Blackmore acknowledges the support from his teammates.

He added, "While I'm quite a loud character, they've helped me. Although we have a bit of banter off the field, on the pitch, I'm focused and driven. I want to learn and keep improving."

Peterborough United's Manager, Darren Ferguson, commented on Blackmore's new contract:"I'm delighted that Will has agreed to this new contract. He has a lot of potential; he has a bright future ahead of him and will definitely be challenging for the number one spot this season. I know that Will was pleased to agree to the deal, and he will play a significant role in the squad for the forthcoming campaign and the seasons to come after that.”

Blackmore initially joined Peterborough United in 2017 and made his debut as a substitute in the team's 4-1 success against Doncaster Rovers during the promotion-winning campaign in 2021.
