Galway United sign Aislinn Meaney
Galway United has announced the signing of Aislinn Meaney.
Meaney, who has had successful runs in the Women's Premier Division with both Galway WFC and Treaty United, is returning from a fruitful spell in the United States, where she played college football with the Akron Zips and the IUP Crimson Hawks.
Meaney has represented Ireland at various youth levels and has also played for the senior team multiple times.
Meaney began her football career with Lifford Ladies, before joining Galway WFC in 2017. She swiftly made an impact, earning the league player of the month award in May 2018 and making the league team of the year.
After her initial success in Ireland, Meaney took her talents to the United States for college, playing with Akron Zips and IUP Crimson Hawks.
During her stint in the US, she made nearly 70 appearances before returning to Ireland to play with Treaty United in the 2022 season.
Meaney now joins Galway United, bringing a wealth of experience from her journey in college football and aims to make an instant impact like her debut season in 2017.
On her return to Galway, Meaney said, "It's great to be back, it's been really good getting to know the new faces. It's really exciting to be back, they've had such a great start to the season, coming into that setup now is ideal."
