Chelsea has successfully secured the signing of goalkeeper Hannah Hampton from Aston Villa.

Hampton, an England international, has committed to the Blues with a three-year contract, tying her to the club until the summer of 2026.

Hampton, expressing her enthusiasm about the move, said, 'I’m very excited! It’s a massive club, it’s an honour to be a part of this and to be able to wear the club’s badge. I want to keep improving, to help the team however I can and I’d love to win some trophies with the club at the same time.’

Emma Hayes, Chelsea's manager, commended Hampton's abilities, stating, ‘There is no doubt that Hannah is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world. Her performances have been improving year on year, and we have high hopes for her future with us.’

Paul Green, the general manager, echoed this sentiment, adding, ‘Hannah is a very talented young goalkeeper and we are delighted to have secured her signature. We look forward to seeing her continue her development in the upcoming years.’

The 22-year-old Hampton brings considerable Women's Super League (WSL) experience to Chelsea, having previously played for Birmingham and Aston Villa. She comes off an impressive season with Carla Ward’s side, making 15 appearances in the league for Villa, contributing to a fifth-place finish.

Her impressive form in recent seasons led to her selection into the England national team. Hampton was part of the victorious Lionesses squad that won the European Championship last summer and is also included in Sarina Wiegman's squad for the upcoming Women’s World Cup.

Originally from Birmingham, Hampton began her footballing career with Villarreal in Spain before returning to England and joining Stoke. She then moved on to Birmingham, making her senior debut in 2017 and subsequently racking up over 50 appearances before switching to city rivals Villa in the summer of 2021.
