Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured the services of seasoned goalkeeper Tom King.

The 28-year-old joins Wolves on a free transfer after his latest spell with Northampton Town. King has more than 200 appearances in the football league to his name.

King's professional career began with Millwall, where he played 19 times. He also had loan spells at various clubs, including Welling United, Braintree Town, Stevenage, and AFC Wimbledon.

His most notable stint was with Newport County, where he registered nearly 50 appearances over two seasons.

King gained worldwide recognition in 2021 when he scored the longest goal ever recorded, a 96.01 metres effort, thereby securing his place in the Guinness Book of Records.

King's performance at Newport led to him being called up to the Wales national team, having qualified for the country through his mother, who was born in Cardiff.

He was part of the squad for their Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Azerbaijan and Hungary, and again in September 2021.

The last two years have seen King guard the posts for Salford City and Northampton, appearing more than 70 times for the two clubs. He now joins Wolves, where he will support Jose Sa and Dan Bentley.

Wolves' Sporting director Matt Hobbs lauded the signing, stating, "Tony [Roberts, the goalkeeping coach] wanted to add an experienced number three to the goalkeeper group and Tom is a player who has played a lot of league games, has a great stature, good physicality and plenty of experience from his previous clubs."
