Forest Green Rovers sign midfielder Callum Jones on season-long loan from Hull City
Forest Green Rovers has announced the signing of 22-year-old midfielder Callum Jones on a season-long loan from Hull City, marking their third signing of the summer transfer window.
Jones, a Wales U20s representative, originally hails from Birkenhead. He joined Hull from Bury in 2019 and has since made 11 appearances for the Championship side.
Jones also spent time on loan at Morecambe and Grimsby Town, scoring twice in 18 games for Morecambe in the early part of the 2021/22 season. His tenure at Grimsby Town in 2022 was cut short due to injury.
Earlier this year, Jones renewed his contract with Hull City, which will keep him with the Tigers until the summer of 2025.
Upon his move to Forest Green Rovers, Jones expressed his excitement and determination, saying, “I had a good chat with the gaffer a couple of weeks ago and he shared his ideas and future plans. It’s a club going in the right direction. I’m a player who loves to get on the ball and dictate the play. I can also get in amongst it. It’s a tough league and I can bring that physical side.”
Duncan Ferguson, Forest Green Rovers' manager, warmly welcomed the midfielder, stating, “We’re over the moon to have Callum with us for the season. He’ll give us real quality on the ball and also lots of energy when we’re trying to win it back. He’ll be a top addition.”
Allan Steele, Director of Football, also voiced his anticipation for the new season, saying, “We’re very excited to see Callum at FGR. We are looking forward to watching him continue his development and build relationships with all the staff and players here at the club.”
