Ireland under-19 international Sean Moore joins West Ham
Premier League side West Ham have confirmed the signing of Ireland under-19 international Sean Moore from Cliftonville.
Moore, 17, hails from Belfast and has played for Northern Ireland’s under-18 side in the past.
But the winger pledged his international allegiances to Ireland earlier this year and has since completed a move to West Ham.
He joins the Hammers off the back of a breakthrough season in the Northern Irish top-flight last season – where he made 31 appearances and scored five goals for Cliftonville.
Moore also made his Ireland under-19 debut against Greece in March.
He will initially link up with West Ham’s under-21 side before looking to force his way into the Irons’ first-team squad.
“I started playing football when I was six, so it’s pretty amazing to sign a professional contract at West Ham United,” he said.
“I am absolutely delighted to join West Ham. It’s a massive Club, so it was an easy decision for me.
“Last year, West Ham won the FA Youth Cup, and the first team also won the UEFA Europa Conference League, which was a brilliant achievement.
“It’s clear there’s a pathway to the first team from the Academy as well, which is important for young players such as myself.
“I would love to play for the first team one day.
“I’m hoping to make a good impression when I start with the U21s and hopefully do very well in east London.”
We are pleased to welcome Sean Moore to the Academy of Football
