Ireland boss Vera Pauw has named her 23-player squad for the 2023 World Cup next month.

Aoife Mannion and Megan Campbell have lost their respective races against time to feature due to injury – forcing Pauw to rethink the make-up of her squad.

Liverpool striker Leanne Kiernan has also missed out alongside Hayley Nolan, Erin McLaughlin, Tara O’Hanlon and Saoirse Noonan.

However, trio Jamie Finn, Harriet Scott and Sophie Whitehouse will travel as training players to the tournament.

But it is winger Izzy Atkinson who is the shock late inclusion to the squad.

Atkinson, 21, was originally left out of Pauw’s training squad but has impressed just in time to make the cut.

Shamrock Rovers pair Abbie Larkin and Aine O’Gorman have been called up, while Ciara Grant, Claire O’Riordan and Chloe Mustaki have also made it.

Katie McCabe will captain the side, with Sinead Farrelly and Marissa Sheva being picked to join the squad just months after making their impression on Pauw in the US.
