Danny Andrew joins Cambridge United in a one-year deal
Cambridge United has officially announced the signing of 32-year-old defender Danny Andrew.
The former Fleetwood Town player comes to Cambridge United on a one-year deal.
Having made a significant mark with 177 appearances in the past four seasons at Fleetwood Town, Andrew moves to Cambridge United.
He becomes the club's second acquisition in the transfer window, following Jack Stevens.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Andrew said, "It feels really good. I am glad to get it all sorted. With it being this close to pre-season starting, I just want to get going now."
Speaking on his new team, Andrew noted, "It seems like a really good place to be coming into. I think I can really help the team and hopefully I will be able to fit in well and the lads appreciate me.”
Mark Bonner, the club manager, welcomed Andrew to the team, emphasizing his positive impact on the squad.
He said, “Danny is a really good addition for us as we look to add quality to every area of the squad." Bonner also revealed that the club had acted promptly to secure Andrew's signature once they were aware of his availability.
Speaking further about Andrew's potential contribution, Bonner highlighted his experience at the League One level, excellent possession quality, superb crossing skills, good passing range, and his value in set plays.
“His experience, particularly at League One level, signifies our intent to add game maturity at this level to the team, and he is a player who possesses excellent quality in possession, is a superb crosser of the ball and has a good passing range. His quality at set plays will enhance us in that area too," Bonner concluded.
