Peterborough United has announced the acquisition of Ryan De Havilland, the 22-year-old midfielder from Barnet, for an undisclosed fee.

De Havilland, who has made 65 appearances and scored nine times for Barnet, has signed a four-year contract with Peterborough.

Prior to his stint at Barnet, De Havilland was part of Fulham's successful Academy system for 11 years and also had a loan spell at Met Police.

Peterborough United's manager, Darren Ferguson, expressed his pleasure at finalising the deal. "Ryan is one we have known about for a while. He had a good upbringing at Fulham, he has gone down the pyramid to work his way back up again and that fits in with some of the players we have signed in the past," he said.

He concluded, "It is a signing that we are happy with, we are looking forward to working with him, he is a good age and has a lot of development in him. I think he will be a big signing for us, he will fit in really well.”

For his part, De Havilland is enthusiastic about his new journey with Peterborough United.

“When I heard of the interest from the club in the summer, it was something that I wanted to pursue. I would describe myself as a box-to-box midfield player, I want to get forward and get into areas to score and assist goals," he said.

“I feel that I learned a lot during my time at Barnet. I felt that it was move that I needed, the physical side of the game I needed to improve on and I felt that my time in the National League has really helped me in that respect. It is pleasing to get it all done right at the start of pre-season, I can now look forward to what is to come.

“I obviously know Ephron Mason-Clark and Emmanuel Fernandez from Barnet and it is always nice to see a few familiar faces on the first day of pre-season. I am looking forward to what is to come,” De Havilland said.
