Brentford signs Ji-soo Kim from Seongnam
Brentford FC has welcomed a new addition to their squad, South Korean underage international Ji-soo Kim.
The 18-year-old defender has been signed from K League Two side Seongnam for an undisclosed fee on a four-year contract, with an additional year option controlled by the club.
Kim is set to join the B-team staff along with his new teammates for pre-season training later this week.
Kim had been promoted to Seongnam's first team in January 2022 and has since made 19 appearances in his debut season.
His skills on the field have not only caught the attention of Brentford but also of international selectors.
Kim has represented South Korea in three different age groups, racking up 29 international appearances. He was part of the South Korean Under-20 World Cup squad that secured a fourth-place finish.
On signing Kim, Brentford director of football Phil Giles said, “Ji-soo is an excellent prospect who was in demand from many teams in Europe this summer."
He further added, "We will give Ji-soo all the time he needs to learn English, adapt to life in England and grow into our club in the B team, and like all of our B-team players, he will earn the opportunity to train and play with the first team based on his performances."
