Former Waterford defender Kyle Ferguson joins Rochdale
Rochdale have announced the signing in principle of defender Kyle Ferguson from Harrogate Town.
The much traveled 23 year old has played in Scotland, America, Sweden and the Republic of Ireland since making his league debut as a 16 year old for Clyde.
Speaking to his new club media, the son of former Scottish international Barry, he was looking forward to the move,. I’m buzzing that we’ve managed to get it done,” he commented.
“As soon as I knew there was interest, I was excited by it. I played at Rochdale last year and it’s a nice stadium, so I was pushing my agent to try and get it done as soon as possible.
“I can’t wait to get started in pre-season and meet the staff and players.
“Jimmy McNulty was one of the main reasons I wanted to join. We had a really good chat last week about how he wants to play this season, how the club is looking to move forward, so that’s what sold me the most.
“The club was a big draw and then when I spoke to him my heart was set. The way he speaks about football and the way he wants to play will suit me as a player.
“I think it’s a place I can do well and I’m really excited.”
The Rochdale squad contains another former League of Ireland player, with ex Cork City midfielder Jimmy Keohane signing a new contract at the club earlier this week.
