extratime.com Podcast - Season 11 - Episode 17 - Gary Dicker - Ireland fans Vox Pop - Vera Pauw - Claire O'Riordan
This week, we offer another engaging episode of the extratime.com podcast, hosted by Luke Jordan.
Stick or Twist?
In the first part of the podcast (00:22), after a week of international football, we delve into the fallout after a bitterly disappointing loss to Greece, and a win against minnows Gibraltar, Stephen Kenny’s future is once again in the balance. As said last week, Greece was dubbed by many as a make-or-break for Kenny’s future as Irish manager, so Luke and the returning Stephen Kavanagh give their views. With qualification for Euro 2024 looking increasingly difficult should he stay or go? We also hear from Irish fans after the Gibraltar game in Dublin to hear what their thoughts on the Dubliner’s position in charge of the national side.
Green Shoots at Brighton
In part two of the podcast, we welcome Brighton and Hove Albion U21 assistant coach Gary Dicker onto the show. The former UCD give his thoughts on the Greek Tragedy having been present on the night in Athens. Dicker explains his role at Premier League club Brighton and give us a detailed analysis of a Premier League academy. Of course, it was inevitable we were going to discuss Evan Ferguson and his progression through Brighton academy to becoming their main focal point at the tender age of 18-year-old, and chat about the other Irish players on the sunny south coast of Brighton.
Come on you Girls in Green
Finally, it wouldn’t be an extratime.com podcast without Macdara Ferris. Our reporter was Republic of Ireland’s WNT victory against Zambia in their World Cup warmup friendly v Zambia. He gave us his thoughts on the performance, the difficult decision ahead of Vera with regards squad selection ahead of the tournament in Australia. We also hear from Head Coach Vera Pauw and goal scorer on the night Claire O’Riordan.
