Finn Harps has announced the signings of defenders Scott Wara and Matty Makinson. The new additions, who have been training with the club in recent weeks, will be eligible for selection starting July 1st.

Wara, a product of the Stoke City academy, most recently played with non-league side Leek Town and has earned international caps with Fiji.

Makinson, on the other hand, kicked off his career at Blackburn Rovers before playing for Warrington Rylands, FC United of Manchester, Stalybridge and Widnes.

Dave Rogers, speaking with club media, expressed his excitement about the signings.

"I am absolutely delighted to finally sign Scott and Matty who are both long term targets of mine and fit the profile of player we identified back in January though we couldn't get the deals done at that time," he said.

Rogers also highlighted the duo's professional upbringing and experience, saying, "Both lads have had a fantastic education and upbringing in their respective careers with Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers then gaining valuable first team experience at non-league level in the UK."

He pointed out that the physical presence of Wara and Makinson, who stand at 6ft 3 and 6ft 5 respectively, will add "real physical presence and leadership" to the Harps' defence.

He described Wara as a "real aerial threat in both boxes" with the ability to "defend one-on-one duels aggressively and consistently".

Similarly, Makinson was praised for his "outstanding technical abilities" and "excellent game intelligence."

Both players have signed 18-month contracts, which Rogers sees as a commitment to the long-term vision of the club.

"I am also excited that both Scott and Matty have committed to myself and Finn Harps long term by signing 18-month contracts and believing in what we are building here at Finn Park."

The signings, according to Rogers, are a significant boost to the club.

"These signings are a massive boost to everyone at our club and I know our dedicated Harps faithful will welcome Scott and Matty to Finn Park and look forward to seeing them in blue and white.”
