Carabao Cup welcomes back Wrexham, Notts County and newly relegated Premier League teams
EFL returnees, Wrexham and Notts County, along with Leeds, Southampton, and Leicester who recently fell from the Premier League ranks, have now discovered their opponents for the opening round of the Carabao Cup.
In the Northern Section, Wrexham, newly reinstated in the EFL, is pitted against Wigan Athletic, whilst Notts County will be squaring off against Lincoln City. Recently relegated from the Premier League, Leeds United will face Shrewsbury Town.
Down in the Southern Section, Southampton and Leicester City will be battling Gillingham and Burton Albion respectively. These former Premier League clubs will be looking to make a strong statement in the Carabao Cup following their recent demotion.
The games will kick off the week commencing 7 August.
