Goalkeeper Jack Stevens moves from Oxford United to Cambridge United
Cambridge United has kicked off its summer transfer activities with the acquisition of 25-year-old goalkeeper Jack Stevens from Oxford United.
Stevens, who inked a two-year contract with Cambridge United, moves on a free transfer, although Oxford United retains future interests in the player.
Stevens' professional career, which began when he was 18 years old, has been intertwined with Oxford United until this new venture.
Initially loaned to local non-league clubs, his upward trajectory within the club led to him making 92 League One appearances over the last three seasons.
Speaking on the move, Stevens said, "I am really excited. It’s good to get it over the line... It feels like it fits and I am really happy to be here. I know the league really well and I am looking to show everyone how good of a goalkeeper I am."
Cambridge United's manager, Mark Bonner, also commented on the signing, stating, "Having played a large number of games at League One level, he has great experience, but at an age where he has many years ahead of him and plenty of potential still to fulfil... we are signing him at the right time to provide him with the environment and opportunities to keep progressing."
As the club's first new signing of the summer, Stevens is set to wear the number one shirt for the upcoming season.
