Blackburn Rovers snap up Arnor Sigurdsson from CSKA Moscow
Blackburn Rovers are bolstering their attacking ranks with the signing of forward Arnor Sigurdsson, formerly of Russian Premier League outfit CSKA Moscow.
The 24-year-old Icelandic international is set to join the club until the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, as permitted by FIFA regulations.
Sigurdsson's signing marks the third summer addition to the Rovers' squad, following the full transfers of Niall Ennis from Plymouth Argyle and Sondre Tronstad from Vitesse Arnhem.
Originally starting his professional career in Iceland with IA Akranes, Sigurdsson then gained recognition at Swedish side IFK Norrkoping.
A transfer to CSKA Moscow in August 2018, for a record club fee, led to him becoming the youngest Icelandic player ever to participate in the Champions League.
Following his contributions to CSKA Moscow's back-to-back fourth-place finishes in the Russian Premier League, Sigurdsson spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Italian Serie A side Venezia.
Last season saw him return to Sweden on loan at IFK Norrkoping, where he netted 15 goals in 26 appearances.
Internationally, Sigurdsson debuted for Iceland against Belgium in November 2018 and has since amassed 27 caps.
