Plymouth Argyle has secured the future of midfielder Adam Randell, with the 22-year-old signing a new contract to keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.

Born in Plymouth, Randell has been instrumental in Argyle's recent success, appearing 40 times in the 2022/23 season.

This included scoring four goals, one of which was a vital equaliser in a 3-1 victory over Port Vale, a match that clinched Argyle the League One title on the last day of the season.

Argyle manager Steven Schumacher was enthusiastic about the contract extension, stating, “I am absolutely delighted that Adam has committed his future to the club."

He went on to highlight Randell's significant contributions during the previous season and anticipates his key role in the upcoming Championship season.

Neil Dewsnip, the club's Director of Football, also spoke highly of Randell.

“Adam is an outstanding young footballer who fits the mould of everything we are trying to build here," Dewsnip said.

He underlined the importance of Randell's local connection and understanding of the club to the broader Argyle community and expressed excitement about the player's future development.

Randell's first experiences with Argyle's first team came via the EFL Trophy and as an occasional substitute in the league.

During the 2020/21 season, he gained valuable experience at Torquay United, playing regularly as the team narrowly missed out on promotion from the Vanarama National League.

In the 2021/22 season, Randell's involvement with Argyle’s first team increased. He played 31 times, including scoring his first goal for the club with a memorable free-kick against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
